Fractional leadership
Senior leadership that moves first.
We take it on, find what’s costing you, and drive the fix. If it’s worth keeping someone in the seat after that, we stay.
Some problems get solved and then you want us out of the way. Others need someone senior holding the whole thing while it gets fixed: the roadmap, the vendors, the data, and whether any of it is still paying off. That’s this.
Who you can bring in
A senior leader who takes ownership of the part of the business that needs fixing, and answers to you for it.
- Technology (Fractional CIO): owns your systems, vendors and ERP data.
What does a fractional CIO actually do?
A fractional CIO owns your technology plan and the operations around it, and is accountable for fixing what isn’t working. Not an advisor who emails a deck. Someone who owns the outcome, sits in your leadership meetings, and answers for the decisions.
- We set the roadmap. What gets done this year, what waits, and what you should stop paying for. Tied to how the business makes money, not to a product cycle.
- We hold the vendors accountable. Your MSP, your ERP partner, anyone sending you an invoice. Written scope, real expectations, and someone on your side who knows what good looks like.
- We back up your IT team. Projects come off their plate. They get a counterpart to think out loud with and cover when they’re out.
- We make sure it keeps paying off. What we built last year still has to earn its keep. We check, and we tell you when something should be retired.
Is this a fractional CIO?
Yes. One person accountable for technology and the plan, at a fraction of what a full-time executive costs. The job runs wider than the server room, because the problems do: the process around the ERP, the vendors sending you invoices, and whether any of the spend still earns its keep.
“Fractional” is just how we work. You get senior help without a senior salary, and without a chair that has to stay full.
What does the work cover?
The work that shows up in a manufacturer or distributor that’s growing, buying, or cleaning up.
ERP projects and migrations
Upgrades, replacements, and everything bolted onto them. We plan the move, manage the partners, and protect your data through cutover so the business doesn’t stop.
Getting control of your service provider
Or getting off them. We make the boundary explicit, benchmark what you’re paying, and either fix the relationship or run a clean exit. Most clients keep their provider. What changes is who’s in charge.
Acquisitions and separations
Buying a company, selling a division, or running out the clock on a transition services agreement. Email, files, identities and systems move on a date, with a plan, without stopping the business.
Running IT day to day
Alongside your team, not over the top of them. Budget, priorities, escalations, and a monthly read-out leadership can get through in ten minutes.
Is a fractional CIO right for your business?
This is worth it when…
- Technology decisions keep landing on someone who has another full-time job.
- You’re about to spend real money and want someone accountable for it.
- You’ve bought a company, or you’re about to.
- You have an IT person who is good and buried.
Probably not a fit if…
- You need a help desk. We’ll help you pick a good one.
- You already have a CIO and a full team.
- You want one thing fixed and then your life back. That’s how we work, and it’s a fine place to stop.
Start with the problem, not the contract.
Nobody signs a leadership retainer off a web page. Tell us what’s going on, and if this turns out to be the right shape, we’ll get there.
